Sharpen after it has been scaled to the size it will be output.
Camera Raw
• Lest damage to original image
• Exposure – hold down option key while you adjust slider –
white areas are where you are losing highlight detail.
• Shadows – hold down option key while you adjust slider –
areas that show up as color are losing all detail.
• Sharpness – default of 25 … some prefer to set to zero and
sharpen at the end of the workflow.
• Luminance Smoothing – Use sparingly
• Color Noise Reduction – ISO related – 3-5 (25 is the default
• Dimensions in inches – Divide the pixel dimensions by the resolution
you set.
• 16 bit for editingCorrections
Corrections
• Hot Spots – Clone Tool – Mode Darken – Opacity 50%
• Face too red – Foreground color BAA89E – Brush 50 –
Mode: Hue – opacity 5 – You can also select area, feather 3, Hue/Sat
Control, select ‘reds’ – slide sat to left.
• DODGE & BURN – NEW LAYER - Overlay – 50% Grey –
Normal Mode 30% opacity. (Doesn’t bruise the pixels.) Dodge White / Burn
Black
• White Teeth Neutralize – White / White – Brush 10 soft –
Mode – Color -Opacity 25%
• White Teeth Brighten – White / White – Brush 10 soft –
Mode – Soft Light -Opacity 15%
• Auto Color – The most powerful of the ‘auto’ tools
– Make it more effective by changing the defaults – Under option
for levels / curves - Check the boxes – Find Dark and Light Colors and
also Snap Neutral Midtones – Save as Default.
Sharpening – LAB mode (Avoids Color Halos) – Lightness Channel

Panorama
Open all images at once – select, then double click any of them.
Make adjustment to one (curves) – drag the curve layer to another open
image … instantly applied.
Extraction
Transition region: Green Highlight / Use thin brush that have crisp edges /
turn on smart Highlighting checkbox. Do sharp areas first.
Fill with paint bucket.
Preview Extraction – Choose “Other” in display to see on different
background
Zoom 100% - Cleanup “Tool” paint over remnants of background / Edge
for translucent areas that should be opaque.
Blend Modes – Allow you to control how the information
on one layer interacts with the content of the underlying layers.
Basic Modes: Normal / Dissolve
Darken Modes: Darken / Multiply / Color Burn / Linear burn
Lighten Modes: Lighten / Screen / Color / Color Dodge / Linear Dodge
Contrast Modes: Overlay / Soft Light / Hard Light / Vivid Light / Linear Light
